"Daffy Dreams of a Family," is the story of Daffy, a lively daffodil who longs to be reunited with her family. Daffy lives with Cupolo and his parents who love her and accept her as their own. Despite this, Daffy can't help but dream about what her parents might be like, but Cupolo and his parents have a big surprise for her!

This was one of the first illustration projects I took on when I began freelancing again after a 2 year hiatus (It's a girl!). I had illustrated books before that, but only a couple, and I still had a lot to learn, and re-learn, as I got my feet back on the ground.
This project has helped me define my process, as well as what programs I prefer to use. I learned a lot about coloring, and inking, and how to combine the two processes in future projects. It helped me begin to re-define my style in the world of children's book illustration, and kick-started me in the right direction. The cover was done last, and I think the progress I made in my style is evident in that.
